What Is a "K.N.I.G.H.T" Shoutout?
This new name reflects some core values we would love to see in our students and adds a meaningful twist to our recognition process.
Here’s what K.N.I.G.H.T. stands for:
- Kind- Kindness fosters a positive and supportive school environment.
- Neighborly- This trait encourages students to look out for one another and build strong, supportive relationships.
- Inspiring- This trait can encourage students to set a good example to all around them!
- Go-getter- Being a go-getter helps students overcome challenges, take responsibility for their learning, and strive for personal and academic growth.
- Hardworking- It teaches students the value of perseverance and discipline and helps them achieve their best through effort and commitment.
- Trustworthy- Trustworthiness builds strong, respectful relationships among students and teachers.
My initial goal with these shoutouts was to encourage students to perform good deeds and embody these qualities, regardless of whether they believe they are being seen. The quote "do good even when no one is watching" comes to mind! By adopting the K.N.I.G.H.T. framework, we can more clearly emphasize these values and celebrate the behaviors we most want to encourage within our school community.
